Cooking shows have always been popular; from the success of Fanny Craddock in the 1970s to The Great British Bake Off starting in 2010, people like to watch professionals cooking or amateurs messing up in the kitchen. In the age of reality shows cooking sometimes takes a back seat to drama where the chef tries to sort out failing restaurants (Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares UK and USA).

The weekend does seem to be the time that you will find cooking/chat shows, usually in the mornings. Mid-week you will see the more popular shows like The Great British Bake Off and Masterchef. There are so many cooking shows out there that they have to try to be original, for example Two Fat Ladies and Hairy Bikers.
