The casting announcements for Fargo's third season have continuously been impressive, and FX shows no sign of stopping. EW reports that David Thewlis, who many know from the Harry Potter films as Remus Lupin, has been cast in an integral role.

The role of V.M. Vargas will be a series regular and is described as "a mysterious loner and true capitalist who delivers Emmit (Ewan McGregor), the Parking Lot King of Minnesota, the bad news that he has just become partners with his employers, whose business interests lay outside the law.”

Thewlis joins other series regulars like the aforementioned McGregor, Carrie Coon, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. The third season will take place in 2010, marking a departure from last season's time jump to the 1970s. Will it somehow tie in with events we saw in the highly-acclaimed first season? Seeing as how the writers have cleverly tied in events and added Easter eggs last year, I'd say that's a safe bet.

No word yet on a premiere date, but it's considered likely season 3 will debut in spring of 2017. Stay tuned for more updates!
