I remember being mocked by my siblings once while playing bowling. They named me Amy and shared a pretty good laugh and I wasn’t all too happy but now I think: What is wrong with being a smart, strong woman who knows exactly what she wants and doesn’t give up until she gets it?

Here are five reason why Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler - portrayed by the lovely Mayim Bialik - is one of the best female characters on tv.

1. She is authentic.

She is one of us; someone you can relate to but would never admit it to anyone. She is smart and awkward, she didn’t have many friends during high school and now desperately tries to fit in. She makes no secret out of it and I think that’s just as embarrassing as it is funny!

2. She knows how to fight “dirty“.

Seriously, I lost count of all the times I would’ve sent Sheldon packing but she has never given up. She is a woman who knows what she wants and she won’t give up until she gets it. She has slowly worked her way from relationship agreements to date nights to platonic sleepovers.
Amy knew how to manipulate Sheldon (The Launch Acceleration, 5x23) when she played the Super Mario Brothers Theme, served him Strawberry Quik and his favourite spgahetti or pretended to be sick (The Fish Guts Displacement, 6x10) to get Sheldon’s attention. Way to go girl!

3. She gets over-excited.

I couldn’t love her more for this and it made laugh so much. I just adore how Amy gets excited about certain things that seem perfectly normal to others. She’s so glad to finally be a part of something special that she wants to make the best of it, not giving a damn about who might be rolling his/her eyes at her - who can blame her?

4. She writes fanfiction.

I know we hardly ever admit it but who has secretly written or read fanfiction at least once? Indulging in cheeky made-up stories that tv - or any other medium — will never grant us and Amy just took matters into her own hands, writing a fanfiction about Sheldon and herself - much to her friend’s amusement!

5. She is having none of Sheldon’s shit!

After all they’ve been through and all her relentless efforts to get the romance she had always wanted, she knows exactly how to get Sheldon to do things, make compromise and put him back in his place when he overstepped boundaries!

I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Amy and Sheldon in the future. Watch The Big Bang Theory Thursdays at 8/7c on CBS,
