Why, This Is Us, Why? Why must you take a holiday break? Why must you leave us in this way? This Is Us celebrates the ups and downs of the Pearson family. 1x10 "Last Christmas" certainly shows the ups and certainly the downs, so much so that I can't wait til next January! This Is Us airs tonight on NBC at 9pm EST! It is the last episode before the holiday break. This Is Us will return on Tuesday, January 10th at 9pm EST!
Hellen Hunt is the Director. Sterling K. Brown says it was the most heartbreaking scene for him to film yet! This was a long scene that started at 5pm and went on until 3am! (If it's the one I think it is, it certainly is!) I also have a poll at the end to see if you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah or both.
From NBC: "The Pearson family finds themselves at the hospital on Christmas Eve after little Kate comes down with appendicitis. When they run into Dr. K, who is alone at the hospital, they realize they need to be there for him as much as he was once there for them. Presently, Kevin celebrates Hanukkah with Sloane and her family, Kate continues to pursue her big surgery and someone from William’s past reappears in his life."

This Is Us x110 "Last Christmas" Advance Review:
This is an episode that I have been looking forward to seeing, but have also been very anxious about. In many ways I was right to be worried, but it was also very delightful! It was actually a really good episode! As bad as Thanksgiving was ruined, Christmas was so nice, but it has a terrible cliff hanger! It's the last 5 minutes... It doesn't really make you want to cry, but it is more like an 'OH CRAP!'
Janet Montgomery, as Olivia was listed on the IMdB listing for this episode, though she was in a scene of what has happened in the past episode, I don't think she had any new scenes, but she was talked about quite a bit.
As you can see from the above photo, Kevin has brought Sloane Sandburg, the play-write (played by Milana Vayntrub) to Randall's house for Christmas! It's about a month from their time spent in the cabin, but they continue to insist they're not a couple. That being said, she takes him to her family's home to celebrate Hanukkah. Then he takes he to Randall's for Christmas. This was a really cute scene and both of them say, "this isn't a thing", but it sure looks like it's leading somewhere!
From a press photo above, you can see Denis O'Hare (AHS) in the background talking to William at Randall's house. Though Denis and Chrissy Metz (co-stars from AHS Freakshow) were in the same room, I don't think they filmed anything together as a nod to their past. Denis plays Jessie, William's friend, as a recurring guest star. It appears that William first met Jessie at Narcotics Anonymous. We will learn what has happened to William’s cat which is something I have been personally wondering about!
It was so great to see Gerald McRaney as Doctor K! Sadly, he is not looking too healthy as he is in the hospital, but I love him! It was quite a ironic scene at Christmas eve that they happened to even be able to be there for him as much as he was there for the Pearsons when they needed his wisdom!
This has to be the best episode I have seen Jon Huertas, as Miguel! I of course love Jack, but since he is gone, we need to give Miguel a shot! I think he's sweet, or at least he's growing on me! Another guest star that we have not seen yet is Jimmi Simpson (Westworld). You get to see him in this episode in a riveting scene with Randall (Sterling K. Brown)! Jimmi plays Andy Fannan, a Wall Street trader who works with Randall.
This was a very good episode. I feel like This Is Us is a wonderful show, but as much as I love to watch it, it almost feels like a punishment. Why must I feel so drawn to a show that makes me cry and feel so anxious about during every episode and worry about the Pearsons when I am not spending time with them? Why must I wait a whole month to find out their collective fates? I will continue to keep the faith and the love for this show, though I am disappointed.
